Memphis By Jeff Gros

Our good friend Jeff Gros is exhibiting his show "Memphis" at the Wonderful Union Gallery in Seattle this Saturday.

OPENING RECEPTION
Saturday, December 8th, 2007, 6-10 PM
The Wonderful Union Gallery
2221 NW 56th St. Suite 201, Seattle WA 98107
(1/2 Block West of The Ballard Library)

EXHIBITION DATES
December 8th, 2007 - February 2nd, 2008

ABOUT THE SHOW
For Jeff Gros, the South is a magical place. It speaks to him. It's in his blood. It's a place where time stands still. Landscapes are overlooked, buildings are forgotten, and it's people are cut from a different cloth.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Jeff may call Los Angeles home, but it would be easy to think differently. Based on his photographs, Gros lives miles away from the stereotypical cliches of Hollywood, in a land where celebrities and unknowns intermingle and forgotten objects are valued as fine art. His honest observations show life for what it is, with no exaggerations or fabrications. This sincerity saturates both his personal and commercial work and has gained him the trust of such clients as ESPN the Magazine, Interscope Records and Sony BMG. Recently, Gros was honored with a coveted 2005 Grammy Nomination for Best Music Packaging. Growing up around photography shaped Gros' way of seeing the world. A photographer for over 10 years, Jeff has pushed himself and his creative medium, quietly amassing an impressive and diverse portfolio. He shows no signs of slowing down, as future plans include continued personal projects, client work, a book release of his haunting series "Memphis" and an accompanying gallery exhibit.

Must Warn Others Show October 13th!

Hope to see everyone come out for the show! It promises to be a great time to benefit a great cause. Every photo will have a specific gift associated with it; for instance, if you buy a photo the proceeds will go towards buying a family in Haiti a goat for milk and cheese. Or if you buy a different photo, its proceeds will go towards supplying an orphan in Zimbabwe with food, blankets and school supplies.

Check out Wonderful Union to learn more about the photographers and the show!

Must Not Sleep / Must Warn Others Pt. 1

We will have our first ever Must Warn Others group show October 13th, 2007 at Wonderful Union, a brand new gallery in Seattle WA. The show will be a charity benefitting World Vision, a humanitarian organization who is "dedicated to working with children, families and their communities worldwide to reach their full potential by tackling the causes of poverty and injustice." All proceeds will go towards awesome things like supplying families with clean drinking water, provide food for hungry children in Africa or building schools for impoverished children.

We will also be releasing our first ever book, cleverly titled "Must Not Sleep / Must Warn Others" which showcases the best and the brightest our seven photographers have to offer. Proceeds of the book will also go towards the aforementioned charity.

More details will be on the way, but in the meantime we've got lots of work to do to get ready for it!

Christina Mei Lutze's "Nostalgia"

Though only 22, one look at Christina's images reveals a talent that transcends age. At once bold and colorful, then suddenly introspective and subtle, her knack for capturing images that transport the viewer to another time and space is apparent. Fresh off her December show "Winter Lights," Christina will be displaying her new series entitled "Nostalgia (a wistful desire to return in thought or in fact to a former time in one's life, to one's home or homeland, or to one's family and friends; a sentimental yearning for the happiness of a former place or time)." Newly returned to the States, the social work major's series will highlight the photographer's time abroad in Asia.

In addition to his photography pursuits, Leif also volunteers his time mentoring students at Youth In Focus, an organization whose goal is to empower urban teens, through photography, to experience their world in new ways and make positive changes in their lives. Awesome!
